Every painting begins somewhere.
While I’m immersed in creating my larger works, I keep a loose canvas beneath my easel to catch drips, excess paint and the marks made as I wipe my brushes between colours.
Over time, something unexpected happens.
Without planning or composition, these canvases slowly evolve into abstract paintings of their own, built entirely from instinct, movement and the rhythm of the creative process. Every mark is genuine. Every layer tells the story of another artwork coming to life.
Once complete, each canvas is professionally stretched and finished as a one-of-a-kind original.
No two can ever be recreated. They are spontaneous, expressive and completely unique, a glimpse into the beautiful unpredictability of the artist’s studio.
They’re not “leftovers” or “old rags “ they’re records of movement, colour, instinct and the creative process itself.
